Aluclad Doors Ireland
Timber inside, aluminium outside — a door with the warmth of natural timber in the hallway and a weather‑proof skin facing the elements. Manufactured to your spec at our Westmeath factory.
Aluclad doors take the principle behind our aluclad windows — solid timber inside, powder‑coated aluminium weather skin outside — and apply it to entrance, French and bespoke door work. The result is a door with all the warmth and grain of real timber in the hallway, and an exterior face that handles whatever the Irish weather throws at it.
Wright Windows manufactures aluclad doors to order at our Milltownpass factory in Co. Westmeath. Because aluclad doors are a bespoke offering rather than a standardised range, every quote starts with a conversation about the opening, the application, the finish you’d like inside and out, and how the door needs to perform. Get in touch and we’ll talk you through what’s possible. We supply and install across Dublin, Meath, Westmeath, Kildare, Wicklow, Offaly, Longford, Cavan and Louth.

How Aluclad Works
One door. Two materials. Each doing what it’s best at.
The inside face of an aluclad door is solid timber — Scandinavian Pine in our standard system — finished with two coats of water‑based opaque paint or translucent stain. You see and feel timber from inside the house.
The outside face is a powder‑coated aluminium weather skin engineered to expand and contract independently of the timber. The aluminium handles UV, salt‑air, freeze‑thaw cycling and wind‑driven rain — the things that destroy traditional timber doors over time — while the timber inside stays dry, stable and protected.
Why Aluclad
Designed for the Long Haul
Coastal & exposed‑site ready
Powder‑coated aluminium handles salt‑laden air, wind‑driven rain and constant UV without lifting or corroding — the failure modes that kill ordinary timber doors near the coast.
Warm timber interior
The inside is real Scandinavian Pine, factory‑finished in your choice of paint or translucent stain. The hallway gets the depth, grain and warmth that no foiled or painted‑metal door can match.
Different colour inside & out
Standard spec is a natural or pale‑stained timber interior with an anthracite or matt‑black aluminium exterior. Any RAL number can be specified for the outside face.
Best Suited For
Where aluclad makes sense for a door.
- Coastal homes — western Ireland, lakeshore properties, anywhere salt‑air hits the front face daily.
- High‑end new builds where the architect has called for natural materials at every interior threshold but a contemporary metal exterior.
- Long‑term family homes where you want the front door to outlast the house move.
- Replacement work where the existing door is timber but has weathered badly — aluclad keeps the look inside, shrugs off the weather outside.

Aluclad Doors FAQ
Common Questions
What is an aluclad door?
An aluclad door has a solid timber core (Scandinavian Pine in our standard system) with a powder‑coated aluminium weather skin clipped over the outside. The two materials are engineered to expand and contract independently so neither stresses the other. You see and feel timber from the inside; you see aluminium from the outside.
Why choose aluclad over solid timber or composite?
Solid timber gives you the warmth and grain inside, but the outside needs ongoing maintenance — especially on coastal and exposed sites. Composite needs no maintenance but the look isn’t real timber. Aluclad gives you real timber inside (warm, hospitable) with a near‑zero‑maintenance aluminium exterior. The trade‑off is price and lead time — both higher than a standard composite door.
Can I have different colours inside and out?
Yes — this is one of the strengths of aluclad. Typical spec has a natural or pale‑stained timber interior (warm, hospitable) with anthracite or matt‑black aluminium exterior (contemporary). Any RAL colour can be specified for the exterior.
Is aluclad really better for coastal homes?
For an exposed coastal site, yes. Powder‑coated aluminium doesn’t corrode in salt‑laden air the way a painted timber door eventually will. The aluminium skin handles the weather; the timber inside stays dry and protected behind it.
How do I get a quote for an aluclad door?
Because every aluclad door is bespoke to your opening and application, quotes are by conversation rather than off a price list. Use the form below or ring +353 44 922 4600 and our team will walk you through the spec options and get a written quote with you within one working day of survey.
