Why uPVC

The most‑chosen Irish door material — for good reason.

uPVC doors are the right answer for most Irish family homes: well‑priced, well‑insulated, well‑secured. The frame won’t rot, won’t warp, won’t flake, won’t rust and won’t fade. A wipe with warm soapy water keeps it looking new for decades.

What people forget about uPVC doors is how flexible the format is. Front and back doors. Side‑hinged French doors that swing fully open into the garden. Sliding patio doors. Casement entrance doors with arched fanlights over them. We make all of it in our Westmeath factory and fit it with our own installation crew.

Best Suited For

Where uPVC makes most sense.

  • Replacement of an existing PVC door — the new door slots into the same outer frame style.
  • BER‑led retrofits where the door spec needs to clear SEAI grant thresholds at the lowest cost.
  • Standard estate and semi‑detached front doors where a wood‑grain finish lifts the look without a luxury price tag.
  • French and sliding patio doors leading onto a back garden or patio — uPVC handles the daily use cheerfully.

Typical cost guidance

uPVC doors in Ireland typically sit in the €800–€1,600 band fitted depending on size, finish, glazing and locking spec. Sliding patio and French door pricing scales with overall opening size.

SEAI grants of up to €1,600 are available for doors. Wright will confirm SEAI Registered Contractor arrangements at quote stage.

Why Wright

uPVC manufacturers since the early 1980s.

Wright started making uPVC products in the early 1980s — very early for the Irish market — and we’ve been refining the system every year since. Doors are still made at the same Milltownpass factory, fitted by our own crew, with the manufacturer answering the phone afterwards.

uPVC Doors FAQ

Common Questions

What security do uPVC doors come with?

Every uPVC door we make ships with multi‑point locking as standard — the bolt engages at multiple points up and down the frame when you turn the key. Toughened safety glass is standard in any glazed panel.

Will my uPVC door warp, rot or fade?

No. uPVC doesn’t rot, warp, flake, rust or fade. The colour is foiled (bonded into the surface), so it stays stable for the 25+ year life of the door.

Can I have different colours inside and out?

Yes — dual‑colour is standard, no surcharge. Anthracite outside / white inside, bog oak outside / cream inside, anything you like.

uPVC vs composite — which should I choose?

uPVC is the entry‑level option — well‑made, well‑priced, ideal for back doors, patio doors and replacement front doors on estate homes. Composite doors are thicker, heavier and more secure — the upgrade choice for a front door where security and look matter most.

Are uPVC doors SEAI grant eligible?

External doors are grant‑eligible under SEAI’s Home Energy Upgrade scheme up to €1,600 per home, subject to U‑value thresholds and installer registration. We’ll confirm at quote stage.

How long does a uPVC door installation take?

Manufacturing lead times vary by season — ring for current timelines. A standard front or back door swap typically takes half a day to a full day on site, with the opening kept secure throughout.
