Aluminium Doors Ireland
Slim‑framed aluminium bi‑fold, lift‑and‑slide and entrance doors. Lift & slide up to 2.8m double‑glazed and 3m triple‑glazed. 2 to 6 leaves. The home of the Spitfire S‑500.
Aluminium is the right material wherever a door needs to be big, strong, slim and weather‑proof — which is most of the time, when the brief is contemporary. Bi‑fold doors that fold an entire wall away. Lift‑and‑slide patio doors three metres tall. Entrance doors that carry biometric locks. Aluminium does all of that.
Wright Windows manufactures aluminium doors at our Milltownpass factory in Co. Westmeath and is the sole Irish supplier of Spitfire S‑500 aluminium entrance doors — the German‑engineered Schüco flagship. Our lift‑and‑slide range carries panels up to 2.8m high double‑glazed and 3m high triple‑glazed, in 2 to 6 leaf configurations, running on stainless steel rollers. Finishes available in 100‑plus colours including dual‑colour inside and out. 100% recyclable at end of life. We supply and install across Dublin, Meath, Westmeath, Kildare, Wicklow, Offaly, Longford, Cavan and Louth.

Why Aluminium for Doors
The only material strong enough to span a wall of glass.
For sliding patio doors carrying 3‑metre‑tall triple‑glazed panels, or bi‑fold doors with six leaves opening up a whole rear elevation, the frame has to do structural work that uPVC and timber can’t. Aluminium does it without flexing — and with profiles slim enough to give you genuinely more glass per square metre.
The system is thermally broken — a non‑conductive polymer separates the inside aluminium face from the outside — so heat doesn’t bridge across the frame. The powder‑coated finish handles UV, salt and freeze‑thaw cycling for decades without lifting. And the whole frame is 100% recyclable at end of life.

Explore Spitfire S-500Best Suited For
Where aluminium doors win.
- Open‑plan rear extensions where the brief is “fold the whole wall away in summer”.
- New builds with large garden‑facing glazing — lift‑and‑slide carries the biggest panels in the range.
- Contemporary entrance doors where the architect has called for anthracite or matt‑black with biometric access.
- Coastal homes where salt‑air corrodes everything else — powder‑coated aluminium doesn’t.
Typical cost guidance
Aluminium doors sit at the top of the Irish market. Bi‑fold and lift‑and‑slide pricing scales with the number of leaves and overall opening size. Spitfire S‑500 entrance doors sit in the €4,800–€9,500+ band depending on spec.
SEAI grants of up to €1,600 are available for doors. Wright will confirm SEAI Registered Contractor arrangements at quote stage. Why Wright

Aluminium Doors FAQ
Common Questions
How big can a lift-and-slide aluminium door go?
Up to 2.8m tall double‑glazed and 3m tall triple‑glazed, in 2 to 6 leaf configurations. The panels run on stainless steel rollers and rise on a handle‑turn before sliding — so the seal is full when closed and the action is smooth when open.
Bi-fold vs lift-and-slide — which should I choose?
Bi‑fold opens the entire wall — great for summer entertaining when you want zero barrier between inside and out. Lift‑and‑slide gives bigger panels of uninterrupted glass and a cleaner sightline year‑round — it’s more about the view than the open‑plan moment. Bi‑fold for events; lift‑and‑slide for everyday.
Are aluminium doors cold to touch?
No. The system is thermally broken — a non‑conductive polymer separates the inside and outside aluminium faces — so heat doesn’t bridge across the frame. The internal surface stays close to room temperature.
Can I get different colours inside and out?
Yes — dual‑colour is standard, no surcharge. Typical specs include anthracite outside / white inside, matt‑black outside / cream inside, bronze outside / timber‑effect inside.
What makes the Spitfire S-500 different?
Spitfire S‑500 is the luxury aluminium entrance door we sell — 95mm Schüco aluminium section, triple glazed, U‑values from 0.6 W/m²K, PAS 24 + RC3 security as standard, biometric or keyfob entry, doors up to 2.7m tall, 600+ models. Wright is the sole Irish supplier. See the Spitfire page for full spec.
Are aluminium doors SEAI grant eligible?
External doors are grant‑eligible under SEAI’s Home Energy Upgrade scheme up to €1,600 per home, subject to U‑value thresholds and installer registration. We’ll confirm at quote stage.
