uPVC Windows · NSAI WEP A1 Certified

uPVC Windows Ireland

Irish‑made uPVC windows with NSAI‑certified U‑values as low as 0.7 W/m²K. Our Eco Wright Passive system holds a WEP A1 rating — the highest available. Manufactured in Westmeath since the early 1980s.

uPVC is the most‑chosen window material in Ireland for good reason: it delivers the best thermal performance for the price, asks almost nothing in maintenance, and is now made to a quality that competes with aluminium and aluclad on look as well as performance.

Wright Windows has been manufacturing uPVC at our Milltownpass factory in Co. Westmeath since the early 1980s. Our flagship Eco Wright Passive system is NSAI‑certified to a Window Energy Performance Index of 31.40 — a WEP A1 rating — with U‑values as low as 0.7 W/m²K when triple glazed. We supply and install across Dublin, Meath, Westmeath, Kildare, Wicklow, Offaly, Longford, Cavan and Louth, less than one hour from Dublin via the M4. Every uPVC window is custom‑made to your opening sizes, glazed to your spec and finished in your choice of over 100 colour and dual‑colour options.

Why uPVC

The best thermal performance for the money.

If your priority is BER score, fuel bills and SEAI grant qualification, uPVC is the most direct route. Our Eco Wright Passive system is NSAI‑certified to a WEP A1 rating with a Window Energy Performance index of 31.40 — the highest band the certification scheme awards. Triple‑glazed units reach U‑values of 0.7 W/m²K, comfortably clearing the SEAI Home Energy Upgrade threshold for windows.

uPVC also asks the least of you over its lifetime. There’s no painting, no staining and no rust. A wipe with warm soapy water keeps it factory‑clean. Multi‑point locking, internal beading and toughened safety glass are standard across the range. We use the same uPVC system in our R9 Legacy flush‑sash flagship — the engineering quality runs through every product we make.

Best Suited For

Where uPVC makes most sense.

  • Replacement projects on 1970s–2000s housing stock — where uPVC is already the visual norm.
  • BER‑led retrofits chasing SEAI grant qualification with the lowest cost per opening.
  • New builds where the spec calls for A‑rated windows but the budget rules out aluminium or aluclad.
  • Coastal homes — uPVC won’t rust, won’t corrode and won’t lift in salt air.

Typical cost guidance

uPVC replacement windows in Ireland typically range from €560 to €1,195 each, fitted, depending on size, glazing spec and finish. A full 3–4 bed semi rewindow with our Eco Wright Passive system sits around €7,500–€10,000 before grants.

SEAI grants of up to €4,000 are available for windows (detached). Wright will confirm SEAI Registered Contractor arrangements for your project at quote stage.

Why Wright

Three generations of Irish window makers.

Wright Windows has been manufacturing in Milltownpass since 1969 — founded by Leo, Rose and Frank Wright. We started supplying doors and stairs to local builders. Today we make every window we sell at the same Westmeath factory, fit them with our own installation crew, and answer the phone afterwards. No subcontractors, no third‑party installers, no markups.

uPVC Windows FAQ

Common Questions

Are Wright uPVC windows SEAI grant eligible?

Yes — our Eco Wright Passive uPVC system is NSAI‑certified to a Window Energy Performance index of 31.40 (WEP A1 rating) with U‑values as low as 0.7 W/m²K, comfortably clearing the SEAI Home Energy Upgrade threshold for windows. The grant requires the installer to be a SEAI Registered Contractor — contact us to confirm current arrangements for your project.

What U-value do Wright uPVC windows achieve?

With triple glazing, our Eco Wright Passive uPVC system achieves NSAI‑certified U‑values as low as 0.7 W/m²K — the lowest in our range and well into PassivHaus territory. Double‑glazed values typically sit around 1.2 W/m²K. Final value depends on overall window size and glazing spec.

Will my uPVC windows yellow or fade over time?

Modern uPVC is foiled rather than spray‑painted — the colour is bonded into the surface, not applied on top. Wright uPVC windows are colour‑stable for the lifetime of the product (typically 25+ years), with no yellowing on white frames and no fading on coloured or wood‑grain finishes.

Can I get different colours inside and out?

Yes — dual‑colour is a standard option, not an upcharge. Common combinations: anthracite outside with white inside; bog oak outside with cream inside; light oak inside with grained white outside.

uPVC vs aluminium vs aluclad — which is right for me?

uPVC gives the best thermal performance for the money. Aluminium gives slimmer sightlines and bigger openings. Aluclad gives a timber interior with an aluminium weather skin. For most Irish replacement projects, uPVC is the sensible choice; for contemporary new builds with large glazed expanses, aluminium often wins; for high‑end builds and coastal locations, aluclad is the spec.

How long does a uPVC window installation take?

Manufacturing lead times vary by season — ring for current timelines. Physical installation of a full house of uPVC windows typically takes 2–4 days, with the house kept weather‑tight throughout. We size, glaze and finish every window before it leaves Milltownpass.
